The losses suffered by Azul in the second quarter of 2020 were reversed, reveals the company's financial results released recently. According to the report, the company earned BRL 1.07 billion in the second quarter of 2021, triple the amount obtained in the same period in 2019, before the pandemic.
In 2020, revenue from passengers was R$282.5 million and, between April and June 2021, this amount went to R$1.42 billion, which significantly boosted total revenues, which reached almost R$285 million, that is, the value more than tripled. The company's immediate liquidity in this period was R$5.5 billion, which represents 90.4% of revenue for the last twelve months. Total liquidity, on the other hand, was R$8.2 billion. John Rodgerson, president of the company, stated that “by the end of September, 100% of Brazilian adults will be vaccinated with at least one dose of vaccine. As a result, the economy has reopened safely. (...) I am confident that as vaccination progresses in Brazil and corporate activities return to being in person, we will see a favorable revenue scenario during the second half of the year”.
