Latam suffered, in the second half of 2021, a loss of US$ 357 million (R$ 1 billion), less than half of the registered in the corresponding period of 2020, according to the company's financial results for the period, recently released.
In 2019, in the pre-pandemic period, the company's total revenues were US$2.3 billion (R$12 billion). In 2021, this number declined and the company recorded US$888.7 million (R$4.62 billion) in total revenues. According to the company, this drop is due to the large drop in passenger revenue.
However, the company's performance in the cargo sector was positive and represented an increase of 37.5% between April and June, which allowed the total result not to be even worse.
Adding cash and cash on hand, including the undrawn portion of the DIP financing approved in September last year, the company's liquidity in the period was US$2.3 billion (R$12 billion).
The company has kept its orders with Boeing, and will receive two 787 Dreamliners next year, but regarding Airbus, Latam has canceled two deliveries of the A350, as it decided to retire its fleets of this model. However, there is an order – with deliveries until 2028 – for 70 aircraft of the A320neo family.
