A Russian Air Force MiG-29 fighter suffered an incident last August 23rd. The plane, which was in the Narimanov district, caught fire. There are no reports of victims.

The fighter accidentally caught fire during scheduled repairs. The plane was completely engulfed in flames. So far, there is no official statement by the Russian Defense Minister.

According to published on the portal Lenta.ru, the accident was caused due to labor shortages.

“The MiG-29 fighter has been around since the early 1980s, that is, for 40 years, its most advanced modifications have been constantly produced. So the problem here is not with the aircraft, but with technical support, with repair systems. Probably, in this case, we are talking about the repairs being carried out by unqualified employees and who did not comply with fire safety rules”, the website reads.

Russia already registers its second accident involving a MiG-29 in just one week. On another occasion, on August 19, an aircraft of the model crashed during training in the Astrakhan region, near the Ashuluk test site. In this case, the adverse weather in the region was the cause of the accident, which killed the pilot.

Recent accidents involving Russian Air Force aircraft are under investigation, but many theories blame the area's security procedures.
