An Indian Air Force MiG-21 Bison fighter crashed during training on the 25th. Shortly after takeoff at Uttarlai Air Station in Barmer, the plane experienced a technical problem, and the pilot managed to eject himself from the aircraft in safety.

This is the fourth accident involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-21 this year alone. The Court of Inquiry is investigating the causes of what happened.

The aircraft crashed in the village of Bhurtiya, under the confines of the Nagana Police Station. When the fighter fell, sparks hit a hut and set it ablaze. There was no one in the cabin.

The Cavok Brasil website claims that more than 400 IAF MiG-21 units have fallen since the 1970s. The approximately 130 aircraft of this model of the Indian Air Force will be replaced by the HAL Tejas.
