During a flight operated by Turkish Airlines, in an evacuation operation for Afghan citizens working for the United Kingdom in Afghanistan, 26-year-old Afghan young woman Soman Noori gave birth to a baby girl with the help of flight attendants, as there was no doctor on board.

Noori went into labor after a stopover in Dubai, and the baby was born 10,000 meters (33,000 feet) high, flying over Kuwait.

The crew, who helped with the delivery during the flight, dubbed the newborn Havva, which means Eve, and is also a reference to the Turkish word “hava”, which in Portuguese means “air”.

When Noori went into labor, she told the flight attendants, who asked if there was any doctor on board – and there wasn't. So the "crew facilitated the delivery according to their training," Turkish Airlines said in a statement.

The aircraft landed in Kuwait as a precaution and then continued its journey to its original destination, in Birmingham, England, where Noori and her baby disembarked.
