Through a press release yesterday, 31/08, British low-cost airline Jet2.com placed an order for 36 aircraft of the A321neo model. This is an initial request, the engine will be chosen later.

The aircraft conquered the company that previously only operated aircraft from rival Boeing. There were about 70 planes, between 737 and 757. “This aircraft [A321neo] is, in our opinion, the most efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft in its class today – it will provide our customers with a very comfortable and pleasant experience while traveling with us to your well-deserved Jet2holiday,” says Philip Meeson, CEO of the company.

The aircraft, which are configured with 232 seats, should reduce the company's operating cost, as they generate up to 20% less fuel consumption and have a longer range.

“We very much welcome Jet2.com's decision. Having traditionally operated non-fly-by-wire (aircraft control system) aircraft, we are pleased to note that after testing a few leased A321s and performing a comprehensive assessment, Jet2.com is looking to the future and investing in fly aircraft -by modern,” said Christian Scherer, Commercial Director and Director of Airbus International.

Jet2.com is the third largest airline in the UK and operates across the European continent. About 1 month ago, the company was testing a rented A321.
