Last Thursday, September 2nd, images of the first of two Airbus A321LR acquired by the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) with its new dark gray paintwork were posted on social networks. The aircraft was sighted in Hamburg, Germany.

The Luftwaffe purchased these two aircraft to use them in various missions such as troop transport, VIP transport and medical evacuation. The cabin configuration of this model airplane allows its use to be diverse thanks to its high flexibility.

The A321LR is a derivative version of the A321neo, with a new fuel tank included and extended reach. It is an aircraft with capacity for up to 163 passengers, or 6 intensive care patients and up to 12 medium care patients – depending on the established configuration. Its maximum range is 7,800 km, or 9.5 hours of flight.

The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in 2022.
