In partnership with Russia, Chinese state-owned aerospace company Comac produced the first CR929 wide-body aircraft and, according to the Jiefang Daily, the company has already completed the preparatory process for series production of the plane. The new aircraft will be a significant competitor to the Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft.
The CR929, in its basic version, which will receive the denomination -600, will have the capacity to transport up to 280 passengers over a distance of 12 thousand kilometers. The family of this aircraft will also have versions -700, with extended fuselage, and -500, with shorter fuselage.
The first fuselage section was manufactured in 2018, and was fifteen meters long and six meters in diameter using composite materials, making it the first part of the plane made entirely from composite materials in China.
Also in 2018, in November, at the Zhuhai Aerospace Show (Guangdong, China) a CR929 prototype was presented.
