Azul announces August results with increased demand

The results of the airlines have been much more encouraging than those of 2020, with Azul releasing its preliminary results for the month of August this Wednesday (08/09).
“August was another strong month for Azul as vaccination continues to progress positively in Brazil. With approximately 85% of adults on at least one dose of covid-19 vaccine, reservations are increasing and the average fare remains well above 2019 levels,” said John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul.
Domestic passenger traffic in RPKs increased 6.5% compared to August 2019 and remained practically the same compared to last month, ahead of Gol. However, the number was 2.149 billion, representing a decrease of 2.5% over the previous month (July).
Gol was left with 1.829 billion RPKs in August. Latam's data has not yet been released, which should happen in the next few days.
The increase registered in the supply of domestic seats was 12% compared to August 2019. The aircraft occupancy rate was 4.1% lower than in August 2019, being 78.5% this month of August, compared to 82 .6% before the pandemic.
If, on the one hand, the numbers in the domestic market are good, on the other, the numbers in the international market still feel a strong impact from the pandemic. All the main indicators still show a decline in this market.
