The Indian airline Jet Airways has had flights suspended since April 2019, as it has not been able to pay for essential services to maintain its operations, such as the fuel itself. However, the company announced that it must resume operations from the next fiscal year. The return will be in a different way than you are used to operating.
A restructuring and turnaround plan was put in place at the company that was purchased by the Kalrock-Jalan group during the insolvency proceedings at the National Company Law Court (NCLT). Now the company must resume only with domestic flights.
“Jet Airways 2.0 aims to restart domestic operations by the first quarter of 2022 and international short-haul operations by the third or fourth quarter of 2022. Our plan is to have more than 50 aircraft in three years and more than 100 in five years, which also fits perfectly into the consortium's short- and long-term business plan,” said Murari Lal Jalan, leader of the consortium.
The number of aircraft was specified, but not which ones. Given that Boeing 737-800 aircraft have been in stock since 2019, everything indicates that they will be.
Among the restructuring changes, one of the main ones was the transfer of the company's hub, which was in Mumbai until 2019, to the city of Delhi.
