Faced with the scene of destruction and extreme poverty that devastates Haiti after last month's earthquake and tropical cyclone, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) mobilized and sent a KC-390 Millennium aircraft carrying around five tons of food, medicine, water purifiers and solar panels to the country as a form of humanitarian aid.

In addition, the mission brought back to Brazil soldiers from the Fire Department of the Federal District, the Fire Department of Minas Gerais and the National Public Security Force who were helping in the country.

“Brazil has a history of collaboration with Haiti and continues to maintain the standard of quality care, strengthening ties even more. After the earthquake, the entire infrastructure of the country was severely compromised, but our staff did an exceptional job during the time they were here”, said the Brazilian Ambassador to Haiti, Marcelo Baumbach.

“We came prepared for any kind of support, but when we arrived here we saw that our help was very important to be able to reduce the suffering of the population”, highlighted the mission's commander, Colonel Firefighter Marcelo Teixeira Dantas.

The plane took aid to the city of Les Cayes, about 200 kilometers from the capital Port-au-Prince. The humanitarian aid mission was in conjunction with other items sent from other countries such as the USA, Mexico, Argentina and Canada.

“I am very proud to be part of the Brazilian Air Force, and to be able to successfully fulfill the mission, piloting the KC-390, which was essential to safely transport the entire team that contributed to improving the conditions of the population of Haiti a little”, he said. one of the pilots.
