According to the National Air Domestic Tariff Report of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the price of flying in the second quarter of this year accumulates an increase of 21.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Among the factors that explain the increase in fares is the increase in the price of aviation fuel (QAV) by 91.7%, when compared to the same period last year.
The growth in demand, which was greater than the increase in supply, also explains the high price, which in the quarter reached an average price of 388.95 reais.
When looking by company, tickets for Latam rose 21.3%, tickets for Azul, 18.6% and Gol, 15%.
However, in the international market, fares dropped to almost all destinations. Compared to 2019, the drop in fares for flights from Brazil to Central America in 2020 was 10.2%, for North America it was 23.2%, for South America it was 16.6% , for Europe it was 15.3% and for Asia it was 13.4%. As for Africa, flights had an 18% increase in fares.
