The Brazilian airline Nella Airlines bought the Bolivian Amaszonas in August with pending taxes.
According to Minister Edgar Montaño, Nella already knew about the debt balance of the Bolivian company, since, weeks before the acquisition, it was warned about the fiscal situation so that “it does not victimize itself and say that the government is to blame for its situation"
The acquisition of around 261.4 million reais was not enough to cover the Bolivian company's outstanding balance, which is around 129 million Bolivian pesos, corresponding to 98 million reais. In this way, the Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing of Bolivia is charging the amount from Nella Airlines.
Of this amount, 11.9 million bolivian pesos are owed to the Telecommunications and Transport Regulation and Supervision Authority, 8.2 million bolivian pesos to Bolivia's Airport Services, 2.8 million bolivian pesos to the Airports Administration and Auxiliary Air Navigation Services (Aasana) and 106 million Bolivian pesos to the National Tax Service Agency, according to data from the newspaper Los Tiempos.
