In a recent article in the Military Watch newspaper, there was a comparison between the Russian Su-75 Checkmate and the Chinese J-10C, two advanced single-engine fighters that seem to worry the United States.
Both fighters can serve as alternatives to the fifth-generation twin-engine calas, which can carry modern short-range air-to-air missiles, such as the Russian P-74 and Chinese PL-10, which are similar, but the PL-10 has an advantage. by being able to hit targets at “extreme angles”, as the newspaper claims.
In addition, the article cites the Russian R-37M missiles as the best in their class despite their low utilization due to their high cost. According to the newspaper, the Chinese PL-15 missile is produced on a much larger scale and is installed in most Chinese aircraft.
The article also indicates the possibility that the Su-75 will receive a modification of the Izdelie 30 engine, originally developed for the Su-57, in order to provide the aircraft with greater propulsion capacity than the J-10C. Another advantage of the new Russian fighter will be its low radar visibility.
Furthermore, the article also points out that "the fact that Checkmate is more widely used and apparently destined to compete with the F-35 in export markets makes it a much greater threat to Western interests than the J-10C".
"Threat to Western interests" means the possibility of American F-35 fighter exports being ruined, as Checkmate aims to cost half the price and offer the same as the American, or better. In addition, the Russian fighter will be supersonic, a feature that the F-35 was prevented from offering due to structural limitations that were only revealed when the fighter was already operating in large quantities in the US Air Force and Navy.
