Alongside F-35B aircraft, Banshee drones are operating from the flight deck of British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, according to the vessel's profile on social networks. Banshee drones are provided by QinetiQ.

The HMS Prince of Wales is currently sailing for its first training period combined with fifth generation F-35 fighters. The aircraft carrier will soon also participate in the Joint Warrior, the UK's largest military exercise to be held off the Scottish coast.

Regarding the Banshee Jet-80, QinetiQ states on its website:

“Developed from the successful Banshee target, this dual-jet engine version was developed using the knowledge and experience gained during operation of the single-jet variant that entered service in 2010.

The current version is equipped with two 40 kg thrust gas turbine engines, giving a total of 80 kg of static thrust. This provides an increase in maximum straight and level speed of up to 180 meters per second. The use of an auxiliary fuel tank ensures that endurance is similar to that of the single-engine version with a typical mixed acceleration mission time in excess of 45 minutes.

When equipped with the patented Hot Nose, the target provides a forward-facing and side-facing infrared source with output in bands I, II and III, while the jet engines provide a realistic rear-facing infrared signature. All other proven augmentation devices traditionally available to Banshee can be fitted to this latest twin-jet engine derivative.”
