Following an industry trend, Airbus' initiative to be a sustainable company and make aviation more ecologically correct has just taken another step. Later this year, through November, all commercial aircraft from its Mobile plant in Alabama (USA) will be delivered with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

This facility is responsible for the deliveries of A220 and A320 family aircraft to US customers, with 260 aircraft already delivered. 54 of these deliveries took place in 2021, reinforcing that Airbus is experiencing a strong recovery with the resumption of travel around the world.

The manufacturer's recent agreement with Signature Flight Suppport, which is working with World Energy, will provide the necessary fuel. From this date, the planes will use a mixture of SAF with conventional fuel.

“Delivering our mobile-produced aircraft with SAF is an important step in solving the carbon challenge. SAF is a positive contributor to increasing sustainability in aviation as it allows for an 80% reduction in CO2 across the entire fuel lifecycle. We are committed to making sustainable fuels an everyday reality with use on an increasing scale, and this announcement is further proof of that,” said Jeff Knittel, President and CEO of Airbus Americas.
