At the beginning of the month, the Emirates airline requested the return of operations of the world's largest passenger aircraft in Brazil, the Airbus A380. Emirates will be the only company to operate this aircraft in South America.
Passenger flights on this route were stopped in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company resumed flights to São Paulo in August 2020, however, using the Boeing 777-300ER.
According to the company, the new flights are justified as a response to the growing demand for travel. The iconic plane's first flight is scheduled for October 31, departing from Dubai to Guarulhos International Airport. The return will be the next day.
"With the increase in vaccination rates and the relaxation of international travel protocols, more and more Brazilians want to travel again after almost two years. With the A380 making daily flights to São Paulo from the end of October, Emirates will be able to take Brazilians to Dubai, Maldives, Cairo and other cities around the world, offering fast and convenient connections at our hub," stated the director of the airline in Brazil, Stephane Perard.
The gigantic, in Emirates configurations, has 2 floors, carries 515 passengers in 3 classes and weighs 276800 kg when empty.
“We are delighted to bring our customer favorite A380 aircraft back to Brazil as of October 31st. With the increase in vaccination rates and the relaxation of international travel protocols, more and more Brazilians want to travel again after almost two years. With the A380 flying daily to São Paulo starting in late October, Emirates will be able to take Brazilians to popular travel destinations such as Dubai, Maldives, Cairo and other cities around the world, offering fast and convenient connections through our hub. Emirates is committed to its customers in Brazil and we are proud to be the only airline that operates the iconic Airbus A380 aircraft in the market,” said Stephane Perard.
