A month after the break in diplomatic ties between Algeria and Morocco, Algeria's Supreme Security Council decided to close all of the country's airspace to Moroccan civil and military aircraft. A meeting held last Wednesday, September 22, chaired by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, defined the immediate application of the sanction.

In the announcement of the decision, the persistence of provocations by the Moroccans, who dispute the territory of Western Sahara with the Algerians, stood out.

Last year, Morocco's sovereignty over the entire area of ""more than 262 km² was recognized by the United States, in exchange for the normalization of relations with Israel, which was not accepted by the other party.

However, the main Moroccan airline, Royal Air Maroc, said that only 15 weekly flights would be affected by this measure, and that they could be diverted across the Mediterranean Sea, minimizing the fact.
