The Taliban government in Afghanistan called on Sunday 26 for airlines to return to international flights at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, saying the chaos at the airport has been resolved and the airport is now 100% operational.
The Islamic Group has secured full cooperation with airlines and is trying to gain acceptance from other governments around the world.
During the evacuation process from Kabul, which was very dramatic, the airport suffered severe damage and ceased to operate. The terminal was reopened with the help of teams from Qatar and Turkey. Some support flights are operating at the airport, but normal commercial services have not yet resumed.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said the suspension of flights left many Afghans stranded abroad, as well as delaying the lives of many people. Some airlines such as Pakistan International Airlines are offering some limited flights to Afghanistan, but at a much higher price than usual.
