Turkey, which recently purchased the Russian S-400 air defense systems, was criticized by the US for this, but rejected the criticisms, and is now seeking a second batch of the S-400 Air Defense System.
Current Turkish President Erdogan's visit to Russia yielded a conversation beyond the purchase of the S-400 defense system. “We had the opportunity to comprehensively discuss what steps to take in the production of aircraft engines, what steps to take in relation to combat fighters,” said the president; The partnership between the countries includes 4 fighters and submarines, as well as engines for the aircraft.
The president said that Russia could be involved in the construction of the second and third nuclear power plant in Turkey. "We spoke with Putin about the construction of two more nuclear power plants, in addition to Akkuyu. He has agreed to work on the matter," said the Turkish president.
The Akkuyu plant is Turkey's first nuclear plant being built by Russia's state-owned nuclear power company, Rosatom. The expected completion of the plant's initial unit is May 2023.
Turkey has been warned by Washington that it could face other measures under US law, which penalizes countries that buy Russian weapons. Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets.
Turkey, for its part, says the S-400 would not pose a threat to the alliance. And he adds: “The S-400 process continues. There is no going back."
Turkey paid 1.4 billion dollars for F-35 fighters and didn't get it. Now it appears that the country has given up on the purchase and is seeking a refund. Meanwhile, Turkey has the ambitious TF-X fighter project. It is known that the country does not have the necessary technologies and experience for the production of the jet.
However, Russia, which recently built the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet, has the experiences and advanced technologies to help.
The United Engine Corporation (UEC) of Russia has already stated that it is ready to provide technologies to be used with the TF-X fighter engine.
