The traffic results for September 2021 released by Azul, on October 7, show numbers very close to those released in the previous month, showing stability.
Demand in RPKs (paying passengers times flown kilometers) in the domestic market increased 8.7% compared to 2019 and stood at 2162 billion, an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous month.
Domestic capacity (measured in ASKs – seats offered times kilometers flown) increased 11.1% compared to 2019. The absolute number was 2.692 billion ASKs in September this year, representing a reduction of 1.6% compared to 2.737 billion from August.
The aircraft load factor was 80.3%, compared to 78.5% in the previous month. This represents a small drop compared to the same month last year, which was 80.7%.
The numbers show a 125% improvement in the demand for domestic flights compared to the year of greatest strength of the crisis, 2020. The international market, however, showed timid numbers, 70% below what it was in 2019.
“Domestic demand in Brazil continues to progress as we increase our domestic capacity by 43% in the quarter. Strong sales trend, with average tariffs and revenue sold above 2019 levels. We are very excited about our revenue potential for the coming months,” said John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul.
