Belgian airline Air Belgium recently received its first Airbus A330-900 from an order for two aircraft.
The aircraft, supplied with an Airbus Airspace cabin, is configured for 286 seats in three classes – 30 business class seats, 21 premium seats and 235 economy class seats. All seats are equipped with a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi in-flight entertainment system and mood lighting.
The new aircraft will be used on long-haul routes from Brussels.
Currently, the airline's fleet of widebody aircraft is entirely comprised of Airbus aircraft, including the A330-200F and A340-300. Air Belgium intends to gradually replace its A340s with A330neos, the new generation of A330s.
The A330neo family builds on the economy, versatility and reliability already proven in the A330 family, while offering a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of around 25% per seat compared to the previous generation.
The A330 is the most popular widebody family aircraft of all time, and in September the manufacturer had an order backlog of more than 1,800 aircraft from 126 customers.
