In May of this year, speculation was raised about the possibility of Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos (ITA) starting to operate its first Airbus A319, due to the company having submitted registration requests to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). That month, ITA requested registration reservations for two aircraft belonging to the Portuguese company HiFly, which specializes in aircraft rental.

This week, a photo of one of these aircraft with an Itapemirim sticker was published on the internet, suggesting that the company may, in fact, soon fly with an A319. It is not yet known whether the aircraft will be repainted in Itapemirim's colors, but this is not a very common practice at HiFly.

The aircraft in the photo is under the registration number 9H-XFW (msn 3689), and, at ITA, it would receive the registration number PS-SIL. According to Airfleets, the aircraft was manufactured in 2008, and has already belonged to Air Berlin, Niki, Bangkok Airways, Eurowings and Germania, until it arrived at HiFly Malta. While at the Maltese company, it has also been leased by Transavia France, Azores Airlines and Volotea.
