The general director of transport and tickets at the Ministry of Transport, Luis Ladrón de Guevara, said that the Cubana de Aviación airline must keep its flights canceled due to the poor condition of its aircraft.

The Cuban company has six leased Antonov AN-158 aircraft in its fleet and five of them are down due to mechanical problems. Only one unit has a maintenance process that will allow it to be returned to service.

The company's own fleet comprises two ATR 42-500, one ATR 72-200, two Embraer 110 Bandeirante and one Iluishin Il-96. It is not known which of these are able to fly.

The flights would be from Havana to Holguin and several new routes from Nova Gerona and Santiago de Cuba. However, they are no longer available on the company's website.
