According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ronei Glanzmann, at the event “Brazil Towards Low Carbon Aviation”, one of the greatest difficulties in civil aviation today, in times of resumption of covid, is the development of new and operational SAF technologies. (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

Aviation has committed to zero carbon emissions by the year 2050, so returning to the levels of aviation before covid is important, but it cannot return and negatively impact the environment, as guided by CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International aviation) of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).

“The sector suffered a lot from the pandemic, we are leaving this period, and now we really realize that the recovery process comes with the issue of sustainability. There is a need to take action in relation to sustainability, in relation to the environment”, said the national secretary.

Glanzmann points out the partnership with the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) as something that could help in this regard.
Another possible solution would be the use of electric aircraft, but, as Ryanair says, these will only be solutions for the long term, since, until now, electric aircraft would not be viable for companies, mainly due to their limited range and speed .
