LAN, the airline that merged with TAM in 2012 and formed LATAM, continued to use aircraft under the TAM brand. However, that changed, with the repainting of the entire fleet of 109 aircraft, consisting of Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, carried out on the LATAM MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul).
LATAM's MRO has already performed important services, such as the modernization of the cabins of the brand's aircraft, in the retrofit project.
The rebranding process will be carried out on planes beyond Brazil, as it involved nine aircraft that were in Chile, Colombia and Peru. In this case, the service will be done at the MRO unit in São Carlos, like the process with Brazilian aircraft, but this will be completed in January 2022.
Started in 2016, the process was divided into four stages, so that LATAM's MRO was able to reduce the time required for painting, as well as saving 47% in the use of paint.
