According to Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, the United States cannot create a completely impenetrable anti-missile defense system. He also said that the Biden administration could seriously address the issue in the future. The statement was given during the Fort Ross Dialogue Forum virtual conference yesterday, November 2nd.
Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the decision to create a multi-layered anti-missile shield, which began under Clinton's second and Bush Jr. administrations, was fundamentally wrong.
For the deputy minister, a possible impenetrable anti-missile shield would be costly in several ways, so that, at best, they will be able to defend themselves from concrete and very limited directions.
Amid rising tensions between countries, Ryabkov said Russia would like specifics from the US to eliminate uncertainty about nuclear insecurity so that the nuclear threshold is higher than it is today. This step would be common between the two countries.
