The Air Force of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLAAF) flew over Taiwan's airspace surroundings on Tuesday (16) of this week. During the operation, eight aircraft were used. The move came just hours after a summit between Presidents Xi Jinping (China) and Joe Biden (United States).
At the time, Joe Biden told Xi Jinping that the US is firmly opposed to unilateral efforts to change the status quo, threatening the peace and stability of the Taiwan region. Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party want to fulfill their mission of reuniting Taiwan, which is now considered a rebel province, with China.
"Reunification is an aspiration of all Chinese. We are patient, but if separatist forces provoke and cross the red line, we will take decisive steps," Xi said. For his part, Biden said the US would defend Taiwan from an eventual attack.
According to information, the surveillance and patrol planes were: - two Y-9 EW and one Y-8 EW electronic intelligence planes; - a Y-8 ASW; - an early warning aircraft KJ-500 AEW
