EgyptAir will auction nine Embraer E170LR jets. The public auction will take place until December 20th. The jets were purchased from EgyptAir Express, a regional subsidiary, and were manufactured between 2007 and 2009. Currently, the jets are between 20,000 and 25,000 cycles.
From 2019 to 2020, the planes no longer operate and are stocked at Cairo International Airport (except for one unit). The buyer will take with each aircraft a pair of General Electric CF34-8E engines.
The jets followed regional routes, but, in 2018, they would be replaced by the Airbus A220-300 with the same purpose in the regional arm of the company. However, in November of the same year, EgyptAir Express was dissolved and incorporated into the parent company.
In its history, EgyptAir has already operated twelve units of the smallest jet in the Embraer family. All 12 have been replaced by another 12 Airbus A220-300 units.
