The Brazilian Navy received from Airbus Helicopters its first H225M prepared for naval combat. The rotary-wing aircraft must contribute to anti-surface and marine surveillance missions. The aircraft is located at the São Pedro d’Aldeia naval base.

The naval version of the aircraft was developed by Helibras (a subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters in Brazil) and is the most complex version of this model ever produced. The Helicopter features the integrated EWS IDAS-3 (countermeasure system), the MBDA Exocet AM39 B2M2 missiles, the APS143 tactical radar and the naval mission system N-TDMS (Naval Tactical Data Management System) developed in collaboration with to Atech.

“We are very proud of this achievement, which demonstrates the industrial and technological capacity of Airbus Helicopters teams in France and Brazil to deliver one of the most modern solutions in the world to the Brazilian Armed Forces,” said Alberto Robles, Head of Airbus Helicopters in America Latin.

The contract for the naval H225M was signed in 2008 and includes 50 H225M aircraft that will be operated by the country's three Armed Forces. So far, 39 units have been assembled by Helibras.

"Designed to meet the most demanding requirements of the Brazilian Navy, advanced tactical and anti-surface warfare capabilities open up new mission possibilities for the H225M utility helicopter."
