The company that recently pulled out of Chapter 11, the US bankruptcy, is making a major overhaul of its business model. The company's CEO, Anko van der Werff, plans to gradually reduce ticket prices. However, the company will not operate as low-cost. The CEO points out that the new model should not be low-cost, but a hybrid model.

In addition, the airline will have more than 200 routes by 2023, supported by the fleet densification project, in which the airline is working on redesigning the cabin of its Airbus A320s to increase seating capacity by 20%. There will be three classes: Economy, Economy Plus and Premium, each with its own cost.

Seats designed by Recaro must provide a space suitable for their category. The idea is to make the individual space a little smaller so that more seats can fit on the plane.

“The installation of more than 14,000 seats and new restroom space on all A320 aircraft will take place by the end of 2022. When we reach that date, customers will fly with revamped interior planes where they will continue to have a reliable, safe journey. and pleasant,” said Albert Pérez, Vice President of Engineering and Maintenance.

“Increasing the capacity of each aircraft by 20% will allow us to reduce the cost of tickets thanks to the optimization of flights”, said Manuel Ambriz, Chief Commercial Officer of the company.

In addition, the company is expected to increase its fleet to more than 120 aircraft. The fleet will be simplified, with only two airplane models: Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A320 family.
