According to data, the GRU Airport concessionaire recorded movement of 24.16 million passengers at the terminals of Guarulhos international airport throughout 2021, with 3.11 million in the last month of the year alone.
The numbers, when compared to the same period in 2020, show a growth of 36.4%. In comparison with 2019, before the pandemic, there was a decrease of 23.6%, the lowest recorded in the historical series.
In domestic flights, the growth was more than 19% compared to 2020 and only 15.8% below the values ""recorded in 2019.
Domestic traffic, as usual, represents 75.9% of total flights. International flights continue to show less expressive results, with only 24.1% of the total volume of passengers served. Thus, growth is much slower than domestic ones, even with the recent opening of some borders.
Even with more timid total numbers, international flights showed an increase of 131.6% compared to 2020, but 39.3% lower than in the pre-pandemic period. The Airport has 28 companies operating to 29 international destinations, representing a recovery of 58% compared to the 50 destinations operated before the pandemic.
