Brazilian startup Desaer does not yet have a prototype of the ATL-100 turboprop, but, thinking about innovation and sustainability, it already has plans for an electric hybrid version of the plane, called the ATL-100H. The ATL-100H should be the first step towards an all-electric aircraft from Desaer.
Today, February 8, the company announced a partnership with magniX, a company that develops electric motors for aviation, seeking to accelerate the transition from aviation to electricity. The ATL-100H must have four engines, two conventional turboprops and two electric magni350s installed at the ends of the wings.
Together, the two companies must develop the innovative project, which will lead to a plane with significantly reduced operating costs, in addition to being carbon neutral. According to the companies, the plane will use 25% to 40% less fuel.
“The ATL-100H and future versions of the aircraft will enable customers and operators to achieve carbon emissions reduction targets while maintaining the low operating costs offered by DESAER's ATL family of aircraft,” said Evandro Fileno, CEO of Desaer.
Desaer should build its first factory in the first quarter of 2022, in Araxá, Minas Gerais.
