Airbus may start equipping its aircraft with electric motors

Guillaume Fauty, CEO of Airbus, said in a recent interview that the European manufacturer may start equipping its aircraft with self-made electric motors.
"It's something we could basically do ourselves," Faury said of engines. Airbus is investing in hydrogen-powered planes as early as 2035, so Airbus engines would generate electricity from hydrogen.
“We need a lot of electricity without CO2. There will be competition in the industry for CO2-free energy,” he said.
The manufacturing model for virtually all other aircraft in the industry is to rely on the engines being supplied by specialized companies such as GE, Pratt
