After the closure of Chapter 11 - the US judicial recovery - Avianca Cargo should expand its flights, given that cargo demand has been high since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, and rising.

Chapter 11 was successfully completed, and the company was able to emerge from bankruptcy in just 18 months. The company's CFO, Rohit Phillip, said that "Avianca emerged from the process with a strong financial position".

Aerocivil authorities must receive a formal request for authorization for more cargo flights to the United States (Miami, Chicago and/or Los Angeles), Argentina (Ezeiza), Brazil (Viracopos and/or Curitiba), Chile (Santiago), Paraguay (Asunción) and Uruguay (Montevideo).

Flights must have up to 3 weekly frequencies, all operated by the Airbus A330-200F. Airplanes can fly in conditions of up to fifth freedom of the air*.

According to information on the company's website, Avianca Cargo has 6 Airbus A330Fs with a load capacity of 68 tons each.

* According to Anac's definition: 5th Freedom of the Air: Right to embark, in country B, passengers, mail and cargo destined for the territory of another country, as well as to disembark, in country B, passengers, mail and cargo coming from another country, on flights originating in and/or destined for the company's country.
