Singapore Airlines orders 22 GE9X engines worth $2.8 billion

Singapore Airlines has ordered 22 GE9X engines. the company announced today (15) that the engines are to equip the Boeing 777-9. The list price is $2.8 billion.
Generally, engine purchases are not news that attracts much media attention, but this order does draw attention as it is for the first airline to operate Boeing's new generation of widebody jets, and the airline has already placed an order. than 40 GE9X engines in 2017.
Singapore Airlines has a total of 31 Boeing 777-9s in its fleet. The engines will make the jet one of the most efficient twins in the world, with 10% less fuel consumption and lower operating costs compared to its competitors.
GE9X engine technologies include more heat resistant ceramic matrix materials. In addition, the engine has compatibility to operate with SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), lower emissions of pollutants and is the quietest engine ever produced by GE Aviation.
