British Airways parent company IAG also encountered problems with the Airbus A350's livery. Defects in the paint layer were found just two or three years after the planes were put into service, during the first C-Check.

C-Check is a more in-depth and time-consuming inspection carried out in periods of about 20 to 24 months.

The CEO of the IAG group stated that the defects should not delay the delivery of the planes.

“We have very young aircraft, so the level of defects we see may not be comparable to others,” said CEO Luis Gallego. “We reported our case to EASA, and EASA told us that the level of degradation we are experiencing affect the airworthiness of the aircraft”.

Qatar even landed 22 A350 jets because of problems in the paint, which degrades to the point of leaving the protective layer against lightning exposed. British Airways, for its part, does not intend to land any jets for this, in case the situation does not worsen, and is awaiting a definitive solution from Airbus.
