Blue has high demand; Domestic flights surpass pre-pandemic levels

Azul today released its preliminary traffic results for the month of February 2022, showing excellent numbers. Total passengers measured in RPK (paying passengers times square kilometers) were 20.1% higher than in February 2021.
The increase in traffic in the domestic market was 7.3%. The international market, on the other hand, was an incredible 1007.7%. Compared to February 2019, the year before the health crisis, total traffic was only 1.4% lower, with the domestic market having an increase of 12.3% and the international market still with only 51.6% of what it was.
Compared to February 2019, there was a 20.7% increase in total capacity, with 8.9% in the domestic market and 20.7% in the international market. Aircraft occupancy closed February with 78.0%, remaining almost the same as in the same period in 2021, when the registered was 78.4%. In 2019, this rate was 81.1%.
“Again, in February, we saw demand surpassing pre-pandemic levels, allowing us to rationally maintain our capacity and leverage the competitive and sustainable advantages of our network and business model”, says John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul.
