The low-cost subsidiary of ANA Holdings, parent company of All Nipon Airlines, is expected to start operating soon, according to ANA's announcement today (8). According to ANA, the airline will be a fully realized brand experience that now stands out, offering travelers “more of what they want” and “less of what they don’t.”
According to ANA, the strategy is part of its sustainable growth project. The new airline will operate on the Low Cost model. Operating medium-sized international routes, it must have the ability to quickly respond to passenger preferences.
"We are excited to start AirJapan and the comfortable service and experience we will offer to passengers," said Air Japan President Hideki Mineguchi. "With a focus on medium-haul international routes, Grupo ANA will be better equipped to meet emerging trends in international travel at a competitive price."
The routes have yet to be defined, as ANA is following the pace of recovery before making decisions. However, the first commercial flight is expected to take place in the second half of 2023.
ANA said the focus would be on growing Asian markets, targeting low-cost, mid-haul flights.
The company's fleet will consist entirely of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, in two seat classes – business and premium – totaling more than 300 seats.
It has not yet been announced whether, like ANA, the airline will be a full member of the Star Alliance, which offers benefits for frequent flyers.
