Since Embraer suspended the supply of parts, maintenance and technical support to Russia, Belarus and certain parts of Ukraine on the 3rd, in compliance with the sanctions, the market has speculated that the company could be in a bad position. In addition, the sale of aircraft to these regions will also no longer be done.
However, the concern was not to run out of this market for the sale of aircraft, as the manufacturer has only two customers in the region: S7 Airlines and PegasFly, adding up to 23 Embraer jets in total. The concern was the possible lack of titanium coming from Russia.
The Brazilian manufacturer depends 100% on ore coming from Russia, which is the largest titanium producer in the world. However, the company said there is no immediate concern about a possible shortage of raw material due to its large inventory.
Embraer said today (9) that it is monitoring its inventory position and that it is looking for alternative sources of titanium supply. In addition, there are already ore supply contracts with companies from other countries.
Embraer did not specify which countries these contracts come from or why the information available about the supplier is that only VSMPO-AVISMA is the supplier of 100% of the titanium used by the manufacturer.
