At the end of Wednesday (30), ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) issued two NOTAMs (Official Aeronautical Communication) for Lauro Kortz Airport (RS). With problems in the PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator), the airport has been undergoing works since November 2020 and the runway has been closed since January 2021.
In one NOTAM, the ANAC allowed only daytime operations, while the other prohibits the operation of jet planes. In practice, the restriction will make only turboprops operate during the day.
The release of jet planes can only happen with the repair of the PAPIs, which has not yet been possible. The new lighting fixtures from Italy never worked properly.
The passenger terminal had been ready for more than 30 days, the only thing missing was the release of the runway according to ANAC's observations, which, in addition to the PAPIs, demanded that the land be completely fenced to prevent the entry of animals.
