The Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) received yesterday (6), its first Embraer E195. The Brazilian manufacturer's largest aircraft is also the first Embraer to fly with SAS Link.
SAS Link was designed to help reduce the parent company's costs and should start flying in the first half of 2022, as is SAS Connect, another subsidiary.
In the past, SAS was interested in acquiring aircraft to replace the Boeing 737-700 fleet. For this, the company should choose between the Airbus A220 or the Embraer E195. The Operator ended up opting to sign a letter of intent to acquire at least 6 units of the Brazilian jet.
SAS is among the few major carriers that have never operated any Embraer aircraft, always opting for rivals such as the Saab 2000 and Bombardier CRJ-900.
The first-generation Embraer E195 that arrived for SAS was previously operated by Flybe, which ceased operations in 2020.
