Japan plans to make the entry of travelers from 106 countries more flexible. Closed to foreigners since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the opening does not mean that restrictions will all be lifted. The announcement was made on Wednesday (6) by the country's government.
The measure should come into effect on Friday (8), and foreigners coming from these countries, which include the US, UK and France, should not be denied entry into Japan, but travelers with tourist purposes have not yet been authorized to enter the country.
Japan has progressively relaxed restrictions imposed by the pandemic. However, the country will continue to keep its doors closed to 56 countries.
In addition, the daily quota of travelers arriving in the country is currently 7,000, but will be increased to 10,000 later this month.
