On Monday, 11th, Vibra Energia signed a contract with Brasil BioFuels for the commercialization and production of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). The fuel will be produced from palm oil.

The agreement is valid for five years, and can be extended for another 5 years, in addition to the existing agreement for the purchase and sale of HVO diesel (vegetable oil hydrotreatment). 500 million liters of fuel must be produced per year

The refining plant will be built in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, with Brasil BioFuels producing the fuels. The unit should be ready in early 2025.

Vibra Energia will have exclusivity over the production of fuels and will sell and distribute them to customers in search of sustainable solutions.

Vibra, formerly BR Distribuidora, has announced partnerships in the areas of biogas, commercialization of ethanol and renewable electricity and is interested in green hydrogen.

SAF and HVO do not require adaptations in the machines to be used, which would allow a more immediate use of biofuels. Fuels are expected to be offered to the public from 2025 or 2026.

Initially, the SAF should be used in a blend with common aviation fuel (QAV), but the expectation is that, gradually, the SAF will begin to occupy a greater percentage of the aircraft's tank.
