Gol announced today (19) an agreement between GOLLOG, its cargo subsidiary, with Mercado Livre, an ecommerce giant, which should reduce the delivery time of goods purchased on the internet by 50% to 80%. The agreement lasts for 10 years.
Gol must allocate three Boeing 737-800 BCF to start the delivery service exclusively for Mercado Livre in July 2022, making three more available in 2023. The agreement includes the possibility of adding six more aircraft by 2025.
Currently, Mercado Livre already has three planes carrying its cargo. Adding these planes to Gol's six, the Free Market should increase from 10 million tons of air cargo delivered per year to 40 million.
The agreement is not exclusive, so that Mercado Livre can make partnerships of the same type with other companies.
With the partnership, Gol will have R$100 million more in revenue this year, reaching R$1 billion in five years.
The Brazilian ecommerce market generates around R$ 180 billion per year and is expected to grow even more in the coming years. Mercado Livre's investment is to stand out among other companies.
"With this partnership, we will expand the number of direct flights from São Paulo to the North and Northeast regions, reducing delivery time by up to 80%. The delivery time to Manaus will be just one day, compared to the current nine days , for destinations in the Northeast, this period will decrease from four to one day. In other capitals, such as Goiânia and Cuiabá, they will begin to receive orders the next day", said Fernando Yunes, Senior Vice President of Mercado Livre in Brazil.
