Shareholders of Gol and Avianca announced yesterday (11) the creation of a holding company that will bring together, in addition to Gol and Avianca, Viva Colombia and Sky Airline. Thus, this will be the largest transport group in Latin America.
According to a statement, it is known that the brands, despite being controlled by the same group, will continue to operate independently, including maintaining their own management and individual partnerships. Gol, for example, will continue as one of American Airlines' main partners on the continent.
The objective is to operate “with the lowest unit cost in their respective markets”, reads a note from the companies. Together, the companies have a fleet of around 300 aircraft and earn around 7 billion dollars a year. Abra intends to increase to 500 and 10 billion, respectively.
Constantino de Oliveira Junior, the man who founded Gol in 2001, will be the Group's CEO. Roberto Kriete, co-founder of Avianca Holdings, will be the director of Abra, while Adrian Neuhauser, current president and CEO of Avianca, and Richard Lark, current CFO of Gol, will be co-presidents of the group.
