Today, Thursday (19), the United Kingdom imposed more sanctions that could harm Russian aviation. The new sanctions will affect Aeroflot, Rossiya Airlines and Ural Airlines. Among the airports are some of the busiest in Europe, such as Heathrow and Gatwick.
According to a statement, companies will not be able to sell their slots at UK airports. The move will save Russia by around £50m in profit. Previously, the UK had already banned the export of aviation-related products, as well as closing its airspace to Russian planes.
"Today we are making sure that they cannot profit from their disputed landing slots at our airports. As long as Putin continues his barbaric attack on Ukraine, we will continue to attack the Russian economy," according to UK Foreign Minister Liz Truss. .
