Embraer closed an agreement to purchase electricity from renewable sources. Thus, with today's announcement, all electrical energy used by Embraer from 2024 will come from solar and wind sources. Initially, the company's commitment to clean energy was for 2025. However, the company brought it forward by one year. As a result, Embraer will achieve zero “Scope 2” carbon emissions in Brazil.

In global operations, such a goal should only be achieved in 2030.

The company will also contribute to the renewable energy market, as last year Embraer consumed around 170,000 MWh globally, 67% of which in Brazil alone.

"This action represents a new milestone for the company and reinforces Embraer's commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in the transition to a low carbon business model", said Carlos Alberto Griner, Vice President of People , ESG and Embraer Communications.

Embraer's goals are big. The company hopes to reach zero carbon emissions by 2040, in addition to already using more SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) in its planes.

In addition, cleaner airplane projects are already underway, such as electric, hybrid and hydrogen powered airplanes.
