After taking a flight to Gatwick Airport, a quadriplegic passenger, who had asked airport staff to help her out of the aircraft with her wheelchair, was “forgotten”, waiting for the team for over an hour and a half. . The flight was British Airways, but the airport was responsible.
This fact was recorded last Saturday the 4th. "Shortly after I landed, the British Airways airline team came to me and said they were sorry, but the people who were supposed to help me off the plane wouldn't be there for 50 minutes . Time passed and I was told it would be another half hour on top of that. In the end, I was waiting an hour and 35 minutes," said Victoria Brignell, the girl with special needs.
In the end, a team from British Airways helped the girl out of the aircraft. Cases like this are not so rare, but this one gained repercussion on social networks, being denounced by friends. “Hi @Gatwick_Airport my disabled friend Victoria has been left waiting on a plane which has landed for an hour now. This is really unacceptable,” wrote Sonia Sodha, one of her friends.
The backlash was such that even former Paralympic Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson said the case was unacceptable.
Victoria said she planned to file an official complaint against the airport as she also needed a special, narrower wheelchair that could be used in the aisle of the plane.
The airport administration apologized for the incident.
