The Portuguese company TAP currently operates a total of 13 first-generation Embraer jets, all E190 and E195 models. According to the company's CEO, Christine Ourmières-Widener, the plane meets the company's needs very well.
Embraer jets add agility and flexibility to some of the company's routes. Therefore, the announcement was made that 6 more E195-E1 jets will be acquired second-hand.
“The E1 jets are the perfect size. Our only limitation this year is our fleet, we are flying a lot with these aircraft”, said the CEO.
The airline is preparing to operate 90% of its summer 2019 capacity in the European summer of this year. Thus, TAP works a lot with its fleet with its different suppliers.
The Brazilian manufacturer's planes are used on routes that do not have high enough demand to justify the use of the Airbus A320, but which are also important routes.
The origin of the additional jets was not reported. There is also no information on a date for the arrival of the aircraft.
